PHASE 2.1 & 2.2

MIGRANT WORKERS INTEGRATION CENTER

BRIEF

The final project task is to design a learning center in response to the urban theory applied. The project requires us to adopt urban design strategies to create an appropriate outcome. With an established understanding of the community needs, the learning center is proposed as a migrant workers integration center.

OUTCOME

A full set of orthographic drawings, diagrams, spatial visualization renders and a working model to convey the design.

DESIGN PROCESS

CONCEPT

The concept was derived, as the findings of the site data collection and further analysis proved migrant workers as a significant growing user group within Chow Kit. However, they were failing to integrate into the community as tangible and intangible barriers set them apart.

INTENTION

The purpose is given to the seniors as ikigai is presented to them as collaborative mentorship gardening, in a series of spaces that help strengthen community relations.

SELF REFLECTION

A long journey of 8 weeks and new developments every week. I enjoyed the process of pushing discovery as the project progressed. Staying consistent with my design ultimately helped to create a worthwhile final product. Creating spaces for a community helped push my design thinking, as architecture as a bigger influencer of society.
