PROJECT 2B
FASHION GALLERY
BRIEF
The final project task is to be derived from the site analysis in order to design a fashion gallery. The project requires us to respond to the context in our design as well as universal design considerations. With an established cultural retort, we are tasked with creating a poetic spatial narrative which is tectonically buildable and fully functional.
OUTCOME
A full set of orthographic drawings, diagrams, spatial visualization renders and a working model to convey the design.
DESIGN PROCESS
CONCEPT
The attire and fashion of Chetti exhibited a hierarchy between the common and affluent in their essence. This hierarchy was so significant, that their culture seemed embed into their differences. The hierarchy showed an explicit increase in details and layers to there elements of fashion from common to affluent.
INTENTION
With the purpose of showcasing adorned elements such as gold and shiny pearls in their fashion, the gallery features a series of mesh wires which portray the rhythm of hierarchy from common to affluent. These wires are to reflect and compliment the adorned fashion displayed, creating an immersive layout. The wires and the structure itself consider the site, and responds appropriately to create the dynamic experience.

SELF REFLECTION
8 weeks, that passed by very fast. Each tutorial and crit session proved vital and in the midst of the approaching deadline, it was easy to lose focus of my intention. However, in the end, I was able to follow and develop on the progress without hesitation as there was simply no time. Proudly, I can say that I stuck to my design intentions to create an original concept. This project allowed me to realize my tools as an architect to be, and how exactly I should use them to convey my ideas consistently and quickly. This project has given my design process so much clarity and I can only hope to get better from here on.
